Barbara kept an amazing garden around her home, with many beautiful plants, and a pond and waterfall. She was very proud of her garden. She put an enormous amount of work into it: designing, purchasing the plants with friends, planting, watering, fertilizing, grooming, and so on. In her last days she spent much time enjoying the garden. Despite her frailty, she continued to be involved in its upkeep, taking tours of the yard and dictating notes on how the various sections should be attended to.
